Epoxy clay? Child’s play!

You are working on this cool custom project and you have found the perfect head. Problem is the dude needs a beard.

You wish something as easy to use as modeling clay exist. Something that would stick to that tiny face. Something you could take your time to model. Something that, once cured, could be painted (…or machined, drilled, tapped, turned, filed, sawn and sandpapered). Well, my friend, it does exist!

What you are looking for is an epoxy clay. I know some other brands are available, but for now I’ve only tried Milliput.

It’s seriously easy to work with. Just mix an equal quantity of both stuff that come in the package and you are ready to go. The texture is like Play-Doh. The only tricky part is to make it stick to the surface you want to alter and not your fingers. The putty will become hard within 3 hours, so you have plenty of time to mold and sculpt it the way you want it. And note that it will cure without any shrinking or cracking and that is good.

I’ve only just used it once and I already have thousands of ideas on how I’ll use this awesome putty again : Add a wound to a warrior, an amulet to a magicien, horns on a monster, a detail on a weapon, etc.

I hope this post has been helpful and remember that you can comment and/or ask questions…in english or in french (Because yes, I come from that french speaking part of Canada).
