Brett’s Bio

Hey Dusk to Dawners, welcome to my Bio Blog! We just thought we’d set up some bios, so you can get to know the Members of Dusk Till Dawn Studios. My name is Brett, and I’ve only been involved in Mythic Legions since this summer. And it’s been a crazy number of months!

I actually discovered Mythic Legions while recuperating in the hospital after kidney transplant surgery. In 2019 I suffered a trio of mini strokes and high blood sugar events (diabetic) that landed me in an induced coma for a few days. It was during this time we discovered I was also in kidney failure. Which led to my wife donating a kidney to me at the end of March 2021. It was during this time in recovery that I discovered Mythic Legions. I ended up ordering my first three figures, the MotU tributes Lord Draguul and Dorina Onoris, as well as Malleus from All-Stars Wave 3. Now the wait was on.

While waiting for my figs to arrive in the mail, I saw Paris post a trade ad for Kronnaw. Seeing as the MotU tributes were what first attracted me to the line, I offered Malleus to Paris and the swap was on. While we got to talking he commented how he saw I did a birthday donation drive to the Kidney Foundation and that it was near and dear to him as he had a kidney transplant in November, so we instantly bonded. From there we had both been buying Jason’s lovely sculpts when we decided to open a shop to help Canadian fans get access to those sculpts. Which brings us to today.

I grew up in the 80’s so Kenner Super Powers, GI Joe and He-Man are probably my holy trinity of toys and that’s generally my focus, the Origins line, some Marvel Legends and now, Mythic Legions. And soon Cosmic Legions…

I worked as a draftsman for years until the market here died out in oil and gas, and am working in the Canadian retail cannabis industry now. I wanted something less stressful after the strokes so here we are. I also collect comics but I buy more older stuff than stuff than modern stuff. I am also a Gundam modeller and have been playing the various versions of Warhammer and painting miniature games, and playing D&D since the 90’s.

I will be writing a beginner’s guide to converting your own Mythic Legions customs as I delve into the modding aspect of the community for the first time. I’m no expert on converting toys, so it’ll be from the perspective of an experienced modeller trying it out. Gotta put all these wonderful sculpts to work. We will have various topics over the future with blogs on custom figure building from Thiery, our experienced figure modder, and Paris on such topics as figure photography, painting converting and all sorts of hobby goodness from the rest of those involved in this venture.
